Ok, seriously, when I first found out I was pregnant, I thought I'd be pregnant forever. There didn't seem to be an end in sight. Plus, I could still see my toes at that point. Now, at 26 weeks, I've turned into a pumpkin and I'm not sure how I'm going to hold this ever-expanding belly up without help! I felt like things were a little boring for a few weeks, but it's starting to get interesting again. When I think about all the changes I feel like I could ramble on for days and days and days, but when I sit down and try to spell them all out, my brain shuts down and I can't seem to remember anything. So I'm going to try to make a list of what's been happening lately, not just for your enjoyment but for me to look back on and know what was happening at 26 weeks of pregnancy.
Here goes..
- I've gained 13 pounds.
- Baby still doesn't have a name.
- A new favorite activity of mine is setting an icy cold glass of water on my belly and watching baby karate chop it off.
- Matt likes to lay his ear on my belly and listen to her heartbeat.. until she elbows him in the head.
- Apparently her eyelids and her nostrils are now open, so she can get lots of practice winking and snoring. I mean, breathing.
- My innie is now an outtie.
- If I don't drink water right before bedtime I get calf, foot, and/or toe cramps in the middle of the night. I even had one inner thigh cramp. Lovely.
- If I do drink water right before bedtime, I have roll out of bed to pee twice during the night.
- Sleeping on my side is my only option and it's doing quite a number on my ribs.
- Speaking of ribs, I felt baby's feet up next to them today. Maybe that's why they hurt?
- I've had a few Braxton Hicks contractions sprinkled throughout the last few weeks. Nothing painful, but my belly looks a little alien-ish and it freaks Matt out.
- I crave tuna sandwiches and fresh oranges pretty much daily. I thought I'd shake things up a bit and try a tangelo. Hated it, now stuck with an 8 pound bag of them. Time to blend them up with bananas to mask the icky flavor.
- "Linea nigra." Google it. I've got it.
- I'm two weeks away from the third trimester.
- I bought my first pair of maternity jeans the other day. I can breath now. And they're so much cuter than I was expecting.
- We've had our first childbirth class. We watched the craziest twin home birth video on the first night. Craziest.
Ok, I'm going into detail on this becuase I want you to understand. Just warning you, cover your eyes right now if you are feeling queasy already. First scene: naked prego going through contractions on her toilet while nursing her 2 year old. I'm not giving you my opinion on nursing a two year old, I'm just shocked that she would be nursing while in labor, that's all. Ok, moving on. This amazon woman delivers her own baby in the bathroom, no midwife in sight, while hubby films it all. "Not a big deal", you say? Well, the baby was pushing 8 pounds. Still not sounding all that heroic? Listen up: she had ANOTHER baby to deliver. Ok, now it's getting good. Now that she's cut her own umbilical cord and tied it off with a shoelace (I can't make this stuff up) she moves on to pushing out baby number two. Guess what comes out first? A foot. Baby number two was breech, and when hubby offered to put the camera down and help, she said absolutely not, keep fliming this! After the foot turns into a whole baby we find out it weighed almost 9 pounds.
Maybe it's like college where the teachers try to scare away any students who aren't going to stick with it til the end?
Well I think I'll leave you with that incredible image.
Sweet dreams. ;)
um...wow that gives home birth a new image for me! Anyways...I love the updates it's so exciting!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! I never did the whole home birthing class thingy. I did take a nursing class, and found it very helpful. That video sounds CRAZY! I can not even imagine experiencing something like that. Though I do understand the nursing while you're in labor thing. I know it's kind of gross but the hormones released during nursing are soothing, so it would help with the pain.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well for you and your little one! I'm so excited for you!!
Im so glad I got to hear about that crazy lady...AGAIN! To think I almost forgot about her...
