29 week update (1 week late)

Well here it is folks, the belly at 29 weeks. Today I'm actually 30 weeks and almost 2 days, but I took a photo at 29 weeks just to be consistent. Since I have been (and plan on continuing) capturing this belly every three weeks, I should only have three more pictures to share. THREE! That will put me at 38 weeks, and maybe I'll take another on the day I go into labor (which will hopefully be no later than 40 weeks). My mom had me, her first child, 6 days early. Of course, with her second baby (the little brother), she went 10 days past her due date.. Here's hoping for a baby girl who's eager to say hello to the world!

So let's see.. I passed my glucose screen, no gestational diabetes. I also found out they did test for Cystic Fibrosis back in December and the results were negative. Two gold stars for me and baby! I've gained 20 pounds (which is right where they want me to be) and was measuring 30 weeks at my last appointment (which was two days before I officially hit 30 weeks, so right on track again). Not too long ago baby was head down feet up, which is why I felt so much kicking around my ribs. At my last appointment though I was told she was head up, feet down. That explains the hard round bump I can feel pressing against the right side of my belly, just below my ribs. Oh, and those crazy kicks to my bladder that make me think I just might pee my pants. I panicked for a minute, knowing that babies are supposed to come out head first, but my midwife assured me that she should flip around and around the next few weeks while she still has a little room. As long as she decides to get that head down around 36 weeks and keep it that way, we should be fine.

My latest craving has been egg salad sandwiches. I know, first tuna, now egg salad. Could I pick a stinkier lunch to take to work? Honestly though, I ate them for three days straight, lunch and dinner. The best thing about them is a) making them on toasted sourdough bread and b) using fresh eggs from Aunt Hatti's chickens. This summer I plan on building my very own chicken coop and raising my own little chickens to have my own eggs every day. It's going to happen. This isn't just one of those "I-want-to-before-I-die" things, it's more of a "I-need-to-have-my-own-chickens-while-I'm-home-with-my-new-baby" thing. I've been researching different kinds of coops and chickens online and have decided I really like the White Leghorns (because of their incredible egg-laying reputation) and those black and white speckled ones (mostly just because they're pretty). Who knew I'd turn into such a country bumpkin? And I've only been out in the boondocks for a year! And I don't care what you say, if you have to drive up a dirt road to get to my house and most of my neighbors have chickens in their yard, then yes, I can consider it "the boondocks".

Well it's time for this pregnant lady to hit the hay. I've been nesting all day long. Since the second I got out of bed I've been sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, washing, folding, organizing, re-organizing, moving furniture, moving it again, then one more time.. and I'm exhausted. This might be one of the last weekends until the baby comes that I don't have anything major planned. We have birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, weddings,  and anniversaries to celebrate in the next two months, so June will be here before we know it!
