Can you believe it?
36 weeks pregnant! (as of last Friday)
When I tell people that I have 4 weeks left, they get this look on their face that says
"Wow, you've got a while to go.."
But when you think about the 36 weeks I've already passed up,
4 weeks is NOTHIN people.
Four weeks is only:
-2 pay periods at work.
-28 days.
-a hop, skip & a jump away.
So what's new in preggo land? Well, technically if I went into labor now, the hospital wouldn't try to stop it from happening. I am also scheduled to see my midwives once a week from here on out. At my last appointment on Thursday I was measuring 36 weeks, right on track. Paige is still head down, booty up (yipee!)
I have had some issues with my lower back (tail-bone area) since before I got pregnant. It doesn't bother me until I do something that involves leaning forward at the waist for an extended amount of time. So, moving furniture in my house, gardening, folding laundry, etc. are some of the things that seem to aggravate it. I thought maybe it was sciatica, but the pain doesn't shoot down my leg like it would if it that's what it was. It feels almost like a pinched nerve or like parts of my spine are tweaked towards the bottom. When it does flare up, laying flat on my back KILLS me, and if I happen to roll over on my back while I'm asleep, it's quite a task to get out of bed in the morning.
Well, just recently was the first time I had to have Matt actually help me out of bed. I could not roll over or sit up without feeling like I had a broken tail-bone. Fortunately, once I get up everything feels much better.
Until this weekend.
Buck and Jamie came over for the weekend. Buck kept Matt company while Jamie and I went crazy on Paige's nursery. We painted walls, moved furniture, put a bookshelf together, painted lots of nick-nacks, painted a nightstand, did some shopping, put up curtains.. I could not have done half of it if Jamie hadn't been here! We worked our butts off, and by the middle of Saturday I could tell I was going to be in pain later. I went to bed that night, woke up at my usual 5:00 am uncomfortable and unable to fall back asleep, so I tried getting up for a potty break.
Nope.
I tried again.
Nope.
..and then just to see if I could do it, I tried again..
Yeah... nope.
I had to wake Matt up to help me. He finally got me up to my feet, and when I went to take a step I thought I was going to fall over. Any pressure on my left leg made me feel like my spine was going to completely collapse on me. I hobbled my way to the bathroom and back, found a way to get back into bed with all my pillows and fell asleep again after some cell phone solitaire.
A couple hours later I woke up again..
Did it all over again..
Only this time I didn't go back to bed.
I stayed in the bathroom, filled up my gigantic jacuzzi tub and turned the jets on.
Ahhh... relief.
But only for a little while. I feel like I've been hobbling all day. Getting up from a sitting position takes time and requires holding onto anything or anyone nearby. Bending forward is a big no-no. The clothes in the dryer might have to stay there until tomorrow or maybe even the next day. Same with the dishes in the sink. And all the unfinished projects in the nursery.
Huh?
What's that?
You want me to stop complaining and show you what we did to the nursery?
Alright, alright.. Sheesh.
I'll give you a sneak peek. Not too much, because it's not 100% done yet. But just a little something to wet your appetite.
The cutest changing pad cover in the world:
Tissue paper pom poms! They will be hanging over her crib.
Ok, that's all you get for now. There are some other fun things that are going into the room, like the sunny yellow nightstand, an awesome hanging lampshade, and book slings. Yes, book slings! Just wait, it's even more exciting than it sounds!
Time for some jacuzzi therapy.
Night!
Hang in there! I can't wait to see more of the nursery! I love the crib!
