Your mouth is watering, isn't it?
Matt, Paige and I had a pretty quiet Thanksgiving day this year. Our families came over the weekend before to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal together, so we had our fill of leftover turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes by the time Thursday came around. So, to at least make it feel like Thanksgiving, I made pumpkin pancakes in the morning, complete with butter, syrup, and a hefty dallop of cool whip. But then for dinner, I went completely non-traditional and made shrimp pasta, salad, and french bread! It was delicious, and you wanna know what the best part was? I didn't have to spend all day in the kitchen. Instead I simply enjoyed my little family during Paige's first Thanksgiving.
Here's Paige with one of her favorite relatives, Mikayla (aka "Aunt Ler", or "antler", as Paige will probably grow up thinking her name is)
And, of course I had to set up a little photoshoot because she looked
too
stinkin
adorable
in her little stripey hat not to.
I have always had so much to be thankful for in my life, and this year was no exception.
Phew, now that I've got my Thanksgiving blog post taken care of, I can move on to Christmas! Sunday afternoon we're heading over to Holloways Tree Farm to cut down our very first real Christmas tree since we've been married! For the last three years we've had a fake tree that we bought on sale at Target. As cute as it was, I couldn't wait to have a real, pine-needley, holiday-smelling tree in our house. I told Matt when we got pregnant that we would HAVE to have a real tree in the house for the holidays. As long as we have babies under our roof, I want the real thing. And when I say babies, I mean as old as they may be, if they're still in our home, they get a real tree to decorate. I'm so excited. SO excited. Don't you worry your little head, pictures will be posted after the decorating frenzy.
PS- If you're interested in the pumpkin pancake recipe I used, I found it here.
Those pancakes look delicious!! I just might have to try them :) And of course Paige looks as cute as can be!
